Multicam Logger allows a user to log all of the different angles (or inputs) used in a live multi-camera production. It records which input the director has selected on his video mixer and when. Multicam Logger thus creates a multicam clip for Final Cut Pro X, Final Cut Pro 7 and Adobe Premiere Pro using the logs and the files recorded by any type of video recorder. The purpose is to use the resulting media to edit a final version of the production which could include necessary corrections.
As you switch between cameras or devices, Multicam Logger automatically captures the start and end timecodes for each selection. It also tracks the duration and identifies the active input, providing a clear and detailed log of your production workflow.
You can also simply add Markers and To-Dos that will then be added to your project sequence, so you can log all the important moments or the moments that need to be reworked. With Final Cut Pro, you can even add "To-dos" that you can then check in the Timeline index when they are done, so you are sure you don't miss out on a correction.
Multicam Logger can integrate with most production switcher through GPI. With NewTek's Tricaster® and Blackmagic Design's ATEM® Production Switcher Line it is even easier as you can connect through Ethernet. The inputs on the network switcher appear immediately on the Multicam Logger screen and connect through a simple Network Connection, no need for complicated cabling and you can use any of the ATEM or Tricaster Production Switcher line.
Selecting an on your production switcher automatically selects it on Multicam Logger. The clean and easy to use interface indicates which item is currently selected as Program and which is selected as Preview.
If you don't have an ATEM or Tricaster Switcher, you can still connect to your preferred switcher using the TSL 5.0 protocol, a widely supported Ethernet standard. You can also choose to update your angle names based on the TSL data received.
If you don't have either of the options mentioned above, you can still use the reliable tally output from your switcher. Simply connect it to Softron's GPICommander2 (sold separately).
Once the live session has ended, the user selects the file in the Finder that he wants to associate with the input and drops it onto the named input. He can then simply click on send multicam to send the multicam to his favourite editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro - limitations may apply). All of the changes will then appear in your editing solution and are ready to be modified. The user can then work as he would with any standard multicam clip to change which angle is chosen and when, as well as to modify the edit points, add effects, etc..
Multicam Logger does not record any video and is hardware agnostic. What Multicam Logger does is log the angles that the director has selected on his vision mixer when producing a live show. To get to the multicam clips afterwards, it is necessary that you have the capability to record each of the cameras on set and ideally the program output as well. To record each camera feed, the user can select whatever solution is appropriate. You should just check that the recorded file type and codec are supported by Multicam Logger.
Of course, our bias is to use Softron's MovieRecorder for all recording. Other recording devices can include the AJA KiPro or Blackmagic Design Hyperdeck, even cameras with built-in memory can be used.
After the Live production, to create your multicam clip, you simply drag and drop each recorded file(s) to each camera angle in Multicam Logger. For example, during your live show you recorded the Camera 1 feed using MovieRecorder which created a video file named MyLiveShow (Camera 1).mov. Simply drag that file and drop it on the Camera 1 line in Multicam Logger. This file will now be associated with that angle, provided the recorded file type and codec are supported by Multicam Logger. Note that Adobe Premiere only supports one file per angle.
Multicam Logger supports multiple timecode sources for your best convenience.
You can add markers (such as if there was a highlight to remember, or a wrong camera) remotely simply from a webpage that we have built in Multicam Logger. Just enter the address and start adding markers. If you are more adventurous, we have an open RESTfull API that is available for you to work with so you can build your own webpage or software that integrates with Multicam Logger.
Support is included in our permanent licenses. There are no recurring fees.
Softron has a worldwide network of highly skilled specialists ready to assist.
Setting up our software is simple and straightforward. But we are always happy to help.
Our customers love our products and our support.
Make sure to test with our free DEMO version available for download before purchasing so you are sure it fits your need. In DEMO mode, the application will allow you to log only 10 changes of angles. That's the only limitation and difference. After your test, you will keep on using the same application, just with the demo mode unlocked.

We know that some of our users can not upgrade their macOS very often. This is why Softron tries to maintain compatibility with older versions of macOS as much as possible, but it is not always possible to achieve. Because Operating Systems are usually significantly improved over previous versions, Softron must use many of the more capable built-in functionalities inherent in Apple's latest OS releases. Failing to do so would mean that Softron software would essentially be blocked from using the new Frameworks provided in the OS. For this reason, Softron's free support is provided only on the current and previous macOS versions. Also, most of our tests will be done on these macOS versions, and only basic tests will be done on the previous OS. We will always try to help, but in some cases, the best solution is to upgrade your macOS to a more recent version.
Softron does not warrant that these recommended configurations will always meet specific user requirements. They are intended as guidelines and are based on extensive testing that Softron has done, they can be changed without notice. Hardware, drivers, software and operating systems change regularly and we advise users and prospective users to evaluate their requirements in their specific environment/workflow using Softron demo licenses that are available for downloading from Softron's web site.

In DEMO mode, Multicam Logger will allow you to add 10 change of angles and send them to your editing station. That's the only limitation and difference. After your test, you will keep on using the same application, just with the demo mode unlocked
Purchase a license through one of our resellers or the Softron online store, then just activate your serial number in the License window or plug your dongle in the computer.
Just download the latest version and replace your previous version. It is always recommended to run extensive tests with your specific workflow and setup before putting a new version in production. You can use a free demo version for that on a separate computer. Previous legacy versions are available from the general downloads page.
You do not need to deactivate and reactivate your serial number when updating your Softron software. Read the following article to know when to deactivate.
